Our principles and policies
Wir freuen uns über jeden Helper, der zu uns kommt. Mit jedem lernen wir ein neues Stück der Welt kennen. Wir wollen mit ihr und ihm zusammen eine gute Zeit verbringen und uns gegenseitig fördern.
Now better in English:
We look forward to hosting each helper who comes to us. Each time we get to know a new piece of the world. We want to spend a good time together and empower each other.
We respect our helpers’ needs and wishes and in return we want them to respect our principles.
We offer to each helper one of our rooms in the guest house with its own bathroom, wifi and TV. As long as it is possible, there is a single bedroom for each helper and a double bedroom for a couple. At times the guest house is full so that we (only when it is absolutely necessary) have to offer an alternative accommodation. That means:
1. To put two helpers together in a double room, if they agree.
2. A room in our private home, shared bathroom, no TV, but wifi.
3. A room in the gues thouse with wifi and a bathroom (without shower but with own WC).
4. Only when absolutely necessary we would provide a sleeping space in our meeting room (no TV, no shower, no wifi and it has never happened yet).
There are always people with disabilities in our house and the majority of our guests are disabled.
All the people in the house, with or without disability have to be treated with respect by the helpers. If you are not sure how to behave towards a disabled person, use the following principle. Ask yourself:" How would I behave to a non-disabled person in the same situation?". At last we, the hosts, will assist in case of any communication difficulties.
We speak German, also English. But if you want to improve your English don’t take us as a model.
Helpers can not take dogs with them in our guest house.
We offer full board and accomodate any special dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian or vegan). Each Helper can use the kitchen on their own se well. Non-alcoholic drinks are available at all times free of charge.
We can not accept applications for a stay shorter than 21 days.
For planning your arrival (and departure) to D-29494 Trebel please use (depending on the direction from which you arrive) the stations in Uelzen, Salzwedel or Wittenberge. .
Please use the mobile number +49 1738252503 or email sandfort@isbbtrebel.de. Communication with us through "WhatsApp" is also possible.
There are free bicycles available to our Helpers.
Our houses (the guesthouse and private house) are in the middle of woods and meadows. You can find here an insect usual in the countryside, such as spiders and beetles. We have mosquito repellents, but we are powerless against flies :-)
The Helpers can terminate their stay at any time and so can we.
The helpers must have their own health insurance. All work related accidents are covered by our insurance. However, we accept no liability for any damage that may be deliberately caused to you or your property by our guests. An accidental damage is covered by our insurance.
The principles and policies mentioned above - especially the limiting ones - needed to be stated. But we are sure to have a very nice time together with the helpers. That has always been the case with all the helpers we have had so far. That's why we show below the pictures of our previous Helpers, who stayed with us longer than 20 days.
Our first Helper was Bekah from the town of Coldstream in Scotland (in July 2015). She has remained "The Model Helper" for us.
Lili and Dou, proud of their Chinese home, brought their country closer to us. They got a lot of work done for us. Powerful and dynamic people!
Jana and Michal from Slovakia improved our apple garden according to the principles of permaculture. They inspired us with many new ideas not only about gardening.
When Maggie leaves us, somewhere in our kitchen will stay a little fairy forever. She came to Trebel directly from the hustle and bustle of a very large city: Hong Kong.
Maggie came two times. First in Sept.-Okt. 2015 and than 2016 April-July.
